Mural Park

Mural Park is where the magic happens every November during the International Mural Fest — a colourful celebration of creativity that brings artists from around the world to Sheffield.

The rest of the year, you can wander through the park and check out the nine stunning finalist murals from the latest competition, along with the International Wall of Fame, which showcases winning murals from years past.

And don’t miss the Celebrity Mural Walk, featuring eye-catching pieces created by international stars like Eason Chan and Pakho Chau — yep, they picked up paintbrushes too!

Lake Barrington

Just a short trip from Sheffield, Lake Barrington is home to one of Australia’s most impressive water sports venues — the Lake Barrington International Rowing Course. Nestled among lush forests and set against the calm, reflective waters of the lake, it’s a stunning spot that combines world-class sport with natural beauty.

Originally built to international standards, the course made waves around the globe when it hosted the 1990 World Rowing Championships. Since then, it’s been the proud host of events like the Australian Rowing Championships and the much-loved Tasmanian Independent Schools Head of the River regatta.

But it’s not just for the pros. With easy access via Kentish Park and Lake Barrington Park, it’s also a fantastic place to enjoy a day out. Whether you're watching a regatta, casting a line, camping under the stars, or enjoying a peaceful picnic by the water, Lake Barrington offers something for everyone.

It’s a local treasure that brings together sport, scenery, and the spirit of community — just another reason why life near Sheffield is something truly special.

Tasmazia

Just a short drive from Sheffield, nestled in the whimsically named Promised Land, lies one of Tasmania’s most delightfully quirky attractions: Tasmazia & The Village of Lower Crackpot. This family-friendly wonderland features eight imaginative mazes, including the Great Maze—once the largest of its kind in the world—alongside hedge, cage, and balance mazes that are as fun as they are challenging.

At the heart of it, all is the Village of Lower Crackpot, a charming 1/5th scale model town brimming with tongue-in-cheek humour and playful architecture. Wander through its miniature streets to discover quirky landmarks like the University of Lateral Thinking and the Correctional Centre, all set against the stunning backdrop of Mount Roland.

Don't miss the Embassy Gardens, where over 40 countries (and a few imaginary ones) are represented in miniature embassies, each with its own unique flair. For a touch of tranquillity, stroll through the on-site lavender farm, which bursts into vibrant bloom during the summer months.

Standing at 1,234 metres, this mighty mountain rewards every step with breathtaking 360-degree views — think Bass Strait, Cradle Mountain, Barn Bluff, and endless rolling hills in between.

The most popular trail to the summit begins at Gowrie Park, along O'Neill’s Road, and takes around 4 to 6 hours return. With a steady incline and well-marked paths, it’s perfect for those who love a good day hike and a sense of accomplishment.

From the top, you’ll feel like you’re seeing all of Tasmania at once — and you might just spot your next adventure from above.
